Marjorie Joan Mannos is a well-known designer of creative ceramics in Los Angeles. Her fascination with pottery began at the age of 4 when she was taken on an outing to Old Sturbridge Village, MA, a recreated colonial town. It was there she first witnessed clay being transformed into an inkwell on the potter’s wheel. She has never really gotten over the wonder of that first experience. At a greater age she majored in ceramics at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, earning her BFA from Tufts University. In 1992 she moved to Los Angeles and promptly fell in love with the surrounding mountains where she became a California native plant enthusiast. An avid hiker, she draws much of her inspiration from the natural environment that mountains and canyons provide.
“I love all flowers - their colors, transparency, symmetry, asymmetry, how the pieces all fit together. To me the most exquisite of all are the wild ones”.
Marjorie Joan (she answers to both names) currently produces her work at a private ceramics studio in Los Angeles. We hope you enjoy her work. She tries her best to answer email so feel free to send your comments or questions to
